This live, online educational session is designed to help parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals understand Gestalt Language Processing (GLP), a natural way some children learn language by using longer phrases or “chunks” of speech rather than single words. We’ll discuss what GLP is, how it differs from analytic language development, and common myths and misconceptions related to echolalia and scripting.
In this session, you will learn general ways to support communication at home through play, modeling, and everyday interactions. This session is intended for parents and caregivers and focuses on general information. It does not include speech-language evaluation or therapy.
This session may be especially helpful for caregivers of children who use echolalia, scripts, or longer phrases to communicate, though all are welcome.
